The Varsity team defended it's 2nd-place crown at the 4th Annual Servpro Invitational held at Twin Lakes on Aug 12 & 13. In addition to finishing 2nd, Noori took over where Matt left off last year by winning the individual crown.

The team started off strong on Wednesday by shooting 285 (+9) on a tough Oaks course. Noori led the way with a 4-under 67, which gave him a 2-shot lead going into day 2. Matt fired a even-par 71. Chris & Han Joe rounded out the scoring for the day.

Day two was played on the Lakes course, where the team had to deal with with some bumpy greens. Noori was able to break par & shoot a 1-under 71, which left him in a tie for 1st at 138 (-5). Nick, Han Joe, & Matt rounded out the scoring for the day.

It should be noted that Nick destroyed the back nine by posting a 1-under 35 on route to a 4-over 75. What's really special about Nick's round is that he struggled on the par-4 second hole & carded an upside-down 6. Nick spoke after his round & commented how the 2nd hole is a big pain in the rear. (He actually didn't say that, but I think it's safe to say that's what he was thinking.)

Day two play ended with the team shooting 299 (+17) en route to a 2-day total of 591. Besides us, only one other team finished under 600. The next closest was Oakton, who fired a 603 to finish 3rd.

After finishing tied for 1st, Noori took off to the 10th tee for a sudden-death playoff. After halving the 10th hole, he parred the tough par-3 11th, while his competitor took a bogey. Afterwards, he recalled the his playoff for 5th at States last year, where he lost on the 2nd playoff hole after his competitor made a miraculous 50 ft chip for a birdie. He was glad that didn't happen again.
