Father & Son Classic

The National Father & Son Team Classic
July 16-18, 2009
Myrtle Beach, SC

Coach's thoughts: I played in this last summer with my Dad & it was well worth the cost. You get to play 3 different courses (depending on the flight you're in) & a different format each day. While it is a bit pricey, each player gets nice goodie bag that includes a $200 gift card for Martin's PGA store, which is a typical golf store on steroids. We're going again this year. Road trip anyone?
Virginia State Golf Association VSGA Junior Golf program: The VSGA has a number of tournaments & opportunities for younger golfers. There is a comprehensive list offered on the VSGA website.
Coach's thoughts: The best value is signing up for the student (22 & younger) VIP Card Program, which costs a mere $30 & offers a complimentary round of golf at over 190 courses in Virginia. The only catch is that you have to pay for your cart & play with an adult (if you aren't 18). My father & I have a VIP card & will go play with anyone who needs an "adult" to join them. We've purchased the card a number of times over the years & learned that it pays for itself after a round or two (all depending upon the courses you choose to visit).
Middle Atlantic PGA - Junior Tour MAPGA Junior Tour: Event sign-up TBA
Coach's thoughts: Any type of competitive golf is great, but I realize the cost is a bit up there. We had a few players play in an event or two last summer, so if you want to know more, touch base with me & I'll point you in the right direction.

Coach's thoughts: Both are on the expensive side. We had a few players go last year, so if you're interested, please let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.
Everybody Golf School Every Body Golf School Junior Camps: Spring & summer camps at a variety of locations in Northern Virginia. There are too many sessions to list, so please visit their website for more information.
Coach's thoughts: It's your choice - Twin Lakes, Oak Marr, Pinecrest, or Burke Lake. From what I've read in Golf Digest, they've got a pretty good thing going. Download Golf Digest's guide & see for yourself. There's also a few other instructors listed if you'd like to go another direction. Whatever the case may be, the more help you get, the better off you'll be.
